Ford Is Committed To Recycling
Ford of Clermont, the leading Orlando car dealer, is proud of Ford's commitment to material recycling. An astounding 300 Ford vehicle components are made from recycled materials created out of nearly 20,000 tons of landfill saved every year. Sources for this recycled material are everyday items as varied as plastic bottles, bottle tops, computer and TV housings, compact discs, household carpets and even denim jeans. The natural fibers in these materials increase the resilience of the components.Ford's Product Sustainability Index (PSI) rates the environmental, economic and social impact of Ford cars - demonstrating the company's commitment to taking a leading role in addressing these issues. Ford has developed components from recycled materials without compromising on quality, durability or performance.
Recycled components in the 2010 Ford Focus include heater and air conditioner housing made from 25 % recycled plastics, replacement bumpers made from 20 % recycled bumpers, interior carpets made from 20 % recycled carpet material, battery tray made from 50 % mixed recycled plastics and fabric seat option made from 100 % recycled material among others. The noise insulation in all Ford vehicles is made from jeans and reclaimed car seat upholstery.
Ford sets targets for the use of non-metallic recycled content for each of its vehicles, with the use of recycled content increased year by year, model by model.
